Dollar changes hands in upper 109 yen zone in early trade in Tokyo

TOKYO, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar changed hands in the upper 109 yen zone in early deals in Tokyo on Friday, marginally higher than its levels in New York overnight.

As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 109.65-66 yen compared with 109.39-49 yen in New York and 109.02-03 yen at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Tokyo.

The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.2391-2395 dollars and 135.89-93 yen against 1.2391-2401 dollars and 135.62-72 yen in New York and 1.2418-2420 dollars and 135.38-42 yen in late Thursday afternoon trade in Tokyo. Enditem
