China to publish volumes of Marxism collection

BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- China will publish the first ten volumes of "Ma Zang", a collection of Marxist classics and documents this year, to observe the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx's birth, the compiler said Thursday.

Launched in 2015 by Peking University in cooperation with several domestic and overseas research institutions, "Ma Zang" aims to provide a complete picture of Maxism's evolution. The whole project will be completed around 2035, said Sun Daiyao, deputy director of School of Marxism at Peking University, at a press conference.

To encourage the study of Marxism, Peking University will host the Second World Congress on Marxism in May. About 80 academics from 33 countries have been invited.

Marx, born on May 5, 1818, was largely ignored by scholars in his own lifetime, though his social, economic and political ideas gained rapid acceptance after his death in 1883. Enditem
