Dollar falls to upper 108 yen zone following Mnuchin remarks

TOKYO, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell to the upper 108 yen zone Thursday in Tokyo after U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin indicated at the World Economic Forum that the country welcomed the weakness of the dollar.

The dollar was quoted at 109.02-03 yen at 5 p.m., compared with 109.17-27 yen in New York and 109.95-96 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday. It changed hands between 108.74 yen and109.48 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.2418-2420 dollars and 135.38-42 yen against 1.2404-2414 dollars and 135.47-57 yen in New York and 1.2311-2313 dollars and 135.36-40 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon. Enditem
