BEIJING -- China's key stock index ended a seven-day winning streak Thursday, as strong non-ferrous and gold shares failed to offset losses in gas and securities sectors.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.31 percent to close at 3,548.31, and the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.47 percent lower at 11,552.56.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday as the strength of the yen against the U.S. dollar weighed on exporter issues and prompted concerns about corporate earnings and outlooks here.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 271.29 points, or 1.13 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 23,669.49, marking its lowest closing level since Jan. 12.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 304.24 points, or 0.92 percent, to 32,654.45 points on Thursday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 32,650.22 and 32,998.05. Turnover totaled 187.71 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 24.02 billion U.S. dollars).

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Thursday moved down 19.67 points, or 1.07 percent to close at 1,819.29 points.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 1,104.57 points on Thursday, up 17.15 points, or 1.58 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session on Monday.
Transactions stopped on Tuesday and Wednesday due to a technical crash on the bourse.
