House fire kills 2 in southwestern France

PARIS, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- A woman and a two-year-old child were killed in a fire at their house in Fongrave commune in southwestern France on Thursday, local media reported.

The fire broke out at around 04:40 local time (0340 GMT) when people in the house were sleeping, news channel BFMTV reported.

The 59-year-old woman and the child were found dead while a couple and another child managed to escape from the house.

The blaze has been put out by firefighters and an investigation is underway. Enditem
