CAPE TOWN, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in South African major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Cape Town's water crisis is being blamed on the national government's failure to maintain/expand water storage and supply infrastructure; while the local government is being blamed for not recognizing the crisis soon enough and delaying mitigating intervention. (News24)

-- Western Cape Premier Helen Zille has again urged Capetonians to reduce their water usage.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the premier said: "Come on Cape Town. We can do this. Yesterday our water use was above 600 million litres again after dropping nicely on Monday. Some of us are still using too much water. Let's pull together as if our lives depend on it. Because they do." (Eyewitness News)
