Singapore stocks close 1.01 pct lower

SINGAPORE, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went down 1.01 percent or 36.62 points to close at 3572.62.

A total of 2.41 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.48 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.13 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 296 to 179.

The STI index closed up 0.48 percent or 17.16 points to close at 3609.24 on Wednesday. Enditem
