Morocco, Finland keen to step up cooperation in clean energy

RABAT, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Senior officials of Morocco and Finland discussed on Wednesday the prospects of deepening cooperation in the field of clean energy.
The Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mining and Sustainable Development, Aziz Rabbah, discussed with visiting Finnish Minister of Environment, Energy and Housing, Kimmo Tiilikainen, on the clean energy cooperation.
Tiilikainen said Finland and Morocco have made strides in transforming into "green and ecological society," adding that the two countries share the will for further cooperation in the use of energy from renewable sources.
In this regard, Tiilikainen stressed his country's strong commitment to sorting, waste recovery and waste water treatment, which are at the heart of Finland's environmental policy.
He added that promoting the clean technology sector is an efficient and intelligent way of opening up new avenues to green growth and the circular economy.
Morocco offers huge potential for investment in sectors related to the green economy, he said.
Rabbah hailed the excellent relations between the two countries, stressing the need to strengthen their cooperation in the energy field.
He highlighted the major reforms undertaken by the Kingdom as part of its environmental and energy strategy, as well as the investment opportunities offered by this sector at all levels.
He also expressed his country's willingness to draw from Finland's expertise and solutions in the field of renewable energy.
Tiilikainen is leading a large delegation of 19 representatives of companies operating in the sectors of water, waste management, energy and the bio-economy. Enditem
