CHICAGO, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- A shooting in a southwest Kentucky high school on Tuesday morning has left one person dead and several people injured, the local government said.

Governor of Kentucky Matt Bevin confirmed the "tragic shooting" at Marshall County High School in a tweet post, adding "shooter was in custody, one confirmed fatality and multiple others wounded..."

Local media said police responded to a shooting at the high school around 8:00 a.m. (1400 GMT) and the scene now was secured and a suspect was arrested.
