SOFIA, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria will send at least 19 athletes to the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games next month, the General Assembly of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) decided here on Tuesday.

The 19 athletes will compete in six sports.

Snowboarders Radoslav Yankov and Alexandra Jekova are part of the world elite and are among Bulgaria's greatest hopes for medals at the games, BOC's president Stefka Kostadinova told the assembly.

Krasimir Anev and Vladimir Iliev, who are European champions in Biathlon, also have great chances, she said.

According to BOC statistics, Bulgaria has gained a total of 223 medals at Olympic Games but only one gold, two silver and three bronze medals were won at Winter Olympics. Enditem
