Singapore stocks close 0.63 pct higher

SINGAPORE, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.63 percent or 22.65 points to close at 3,592.08.

A total of 2.55 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.78 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.35 billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 325 to 182.

The STI index closed up 0.54 percent or 19.07 points to close at 3,569.43 on Monday. Enditem
