KHARTOUM, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The International Fair of Khartoum opened in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum on Monday, with 33 countries and around 600 local and foreign companies participating in the fair.

"We are making great efforts to reach international markets and open new markets in all countries of the world to increase exports revenues and provide foreign currency," Hatim Al-Sir, Sudan's Trade Minister, said when addressing the inauguration ceremony.

The International Fair of Khartoum provides an opportunity to show Sudan's huge potentials in agriculture, diversified animal resources and rare minerals and natural resources which attract local and foreign investment, he noted.

Countries such as Portugal and Belarus take part in the fair for the first time while countries like Oman and South Korea return to the exhibition after missing many previous sessions.

The International Fair of Khartoum is Sudan's biggest exhibition held annually since 1978. Enditem
