French shares gain 0.28 pct on Monday

PARIS, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Monday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.28 percent, or 15.48 points, to close at 5,541.99 points.

A total of 27 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

UK-based company TechnipFMC advanced 3.42 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French car manufacturer Peugeot gained 2.92 percent, and French multinational telecommunications corporation rose 2.18 percent.

French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi edged down 2.91 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French food services and facilities management company went down by 2.01 percent, and French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer Stmicroelectonics lost 0.93 percent.
