SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- One man was killed and a woman critically injured after their paddleboat capsized near a park in King County, the most populous county in Washington state on the U.S. west Pacific, a local TV reported Sunday.

The U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Northwest said in an earlier tweet that its members were working with King County personnel to "rescue one woman, recover one man after their 15-foot (about 4.6 meters) paddleboat was reportedly beset by weather near Three Tree Point in Burien, Wash."

The man was recovered by a helicopter crew but pronounced dead in less than an hour.

Rescuers said they were able to make contact with the two people via cell phone and heard a loud scream before losing the connection.

They later found the paddleboat capsized near Seahurst Park in the suburb of Seattle, a seaport city of Washington state.

The woman, who was unresponsive, was rushed to a hospital and listed in critical condition. Enditem
