TEHRAN, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian army will launch a large-scale war game in the southern coasts and the Sea of Oman on Monday, local media reported on Sunday.
All of the forces of the army, including the navy, the ground force, the air force and the air defense unit would participate in the war game, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.
The military drills, code-named Muhammad Rasulullah-5 (Muhammad meaning the Messenger of God), would cover a vast area, including all of the Makran coasts and the Sea of Oman, said Sayyari.
The objective behind the drills is to promote the capabilities of the army forces and convey the message of peace and friendship to other regional countries, he said.
In Dec. 2016, the army ground force staged Muhammad Rasulullah-4 war game in an area of more than 220,000 square km southeast of Iran. Enditem
