5.2-magnitude quake hits northeastern state of India

NEW DELHI, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- A moderate earthquake Saturday morning hit India's northeastern state of Assam, officials said.
According to Indian Meteorological Department, the earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred at 6:44 a.m. local time.
Epicenter of the earthquake was Kokrajhar, west of Dispur, the capital city of Assam.
"The epicenter of earthquake was located at 26.3 degrees north latitude and 89.8 degrees east longitude," according to Indian Meteorological Department. "The depth of the earthquake was 10 kms."
Officials said tremors of the earthquake were felt across the state.
However, there were no immediate reports of any damage or loss of lives in the earthquake. Enditem
