Kenya stocks rally on Friday

NAIROBI, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Turnover and key indices of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) on Friday rallied to a record high buoyed by good performance of various stocks.
Equity turnover closed at a record high of 68 million U.S. dollars from over 380 million shares, a rise from 9.8 million dollars on a volume of 34 million shares on Thursday.
The turnover was boosted by KenolKobil, which traded a whopping 370 million shares at unchanged price of 0.14 dollars to emerge as the top traded stock.
However, at least 14 large stocks rose by between 0.8 percent and 9 percent to help prop up the key indicators of the bourse.
The NSE All Share Index (NASI) rose 0.94 percent to close Friday at a ten-year high of 180.17 points.
The other four top traded counters were Safaricom, Kenya Power, Kenya Commercial Bank and Equity Bank moving 6.6 million, 4.5 million, 1.9 million and 846,400 shares respectively. Enditem
