UN provides solar energy systems to Libyan hospitals

Xinhua,January 19, 2018 Adjust font size:

TRIPOLI, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) provided solar energy systems for 15 hospitals in Libya, the UN Support Mission in Libya said on Friday.

"With the support of the United Nations Development Program, 15 hospitals in Libya are provided with energy in 2017," said the Mission.

"The solar energy is clean and reliable. Therefore, the Program intends to support more public and vital facilities this year if funding is available," the Mission added. "Providing basic services is important to ensure stability in Libya."

Most government hospitals and medical centers in Libya suffer frequent operating problems due to power blackout throughout the year.

Many hospitals in Libya, especially in remote areas, were forced to close down due to repeated power blackouts. Enditem
