German trains run less punctually in 2017: media

Xinhua,January 19, 2018 Adjust font size:

BERLIN, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Trains in Germany operated by Germany's state-owned rail company Deutsche Bahn (DB) were less punctually in 2017 than the previous year, a media report showed on Thursday.

Around 78.5 percent of long-distance trains ran on time last year, down by 0.4 percentage point than in 2016, German news agency dpa cited DB figures.

DB's chief executive had set a target for the last year of 81-percent punctuality, which means that any train should arrive or leave up to six minutes later than scheduled.

According to DB, the unpunctuality was mainly caused by construction work, autumn storms and arson attacks during the Hamburg G20 summit in July.

Meanwhile, the rail company has already announced its target for 2018, to raise the punctuality to 82 percent. Enditem
