VIENNA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Austrian agricultural and foodstuff exports have seen a seven percent increase in 2017 to reach a total 11.11 billion euros (13.6 billion U.S. dollars), Agrarmarkt Austria Marketing (AMA) stated on Thursday, according to local media reports.
An increase of this magnitude has not been observed in almost 20 years, the AMA noted.
Alcohol-free beverage exports made up the highest percentage of the total, at 17.6 percent, spearheaded by popular beverage Red Bull. It is notable that about 90 percent of food-related exports to the United States were from this category.
Meat and related products (14 percent), and milk and related products (11 percent) were also major exports.
About 35 percent of all food-related exports went to neighbouring Germany, followed by Italy (12 percent) and the United States (eight percent) among the foreign markets.
The import of food products meanwhile increased 5.1 percent to reach 12.01 billion euros (14.7 billion U.S. dollars). Enditem
