Chicago agricultural futures mixed in morning trading

Xinhua,January 19, 2018 Adjust font size:

CHICAGO, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities were trading mixed on Thursday morning with corn futures retreating from sharp rise in the previous session.

As of 1531 GMT, March corn was down 1.25 cents at 3.5175 U.S. dollars per bushel while March wheat was up one cent at 4.225 dollars per bushel and March soybeans up four cents at 9.7275 dollars per bushel.

CBOT soybeans continued the upturn following three consecutive days of gains. Since the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reduced its projection for 2017-18 output in the latest monthly supply and demand report, the prices of soybeans have been on the rise.

But the corn futures, which saw 1.36 percent gains in the previous session, retreated in morning trading.

Meanwhile, CBOT wheat futures inched higher as investors bought back contracts to close their short positions, said market observers. Enditem
