BISHKEK, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has reached a new level, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov said Wednesday.

Isakov said this when meeting with the new UNDP representative and coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Ozoniye Zhizhelo, said the press service of the Kyrgyz government.

"Over the past years, cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UNDP has significantly increased, within the framework of which a number of projects aimed at socio-economic development of the country have been successfully implemented," said Isakov, while expressing the hope for continued cooperation.

"I want to express my readiness to continue partnership with UN institutions in this direction, as UNDP programs play an important role in improving the livelihood of our people," he said.

Isakov meanwhile stressed the socio-economic and cultural areas as the "priority areas of cooperation with the UN for our country."

The UNDP has been working in Kyrgyzstan since 1993, providing support in areas such as poverty reduction, governance, environmental protection, public health and prevention of natural disasters. Enditem
