TRIPOLI, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Libya's UN-backed government said on Wednesday that it is considering a cabinet reshuffle in the near future.
"The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord headed by Fayez Serraj held its first meeting in 2018 in Tripoli," the media office of the prime minister said in a statement.
"The discussion included a ministerial reshuffle with an expansion of the government as soon as possible," the statement added.
The meeting also covered security, financial and economic crisis in the country, as well as the financial arrangements for 2018 and the measures to improve the performance of the service sector, it noted.
In May 2016, the Presidential Council of the Government appointed 18 ministers, but the cabinet was rejected by the eastern-based House of Representatives, which accused the government of "exercising functions without legal basis."
Libya has been suffering political division with eastern and western authorities, despite a UN-sponsored political agreement signed between rival parties. Enditem
