Spanish shares gain 0.51 pct Tuesday

MADRID, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Spanish shares rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark stock market index Ibex-35 up 0.51 percent, or 53.20 points, to close at 10,520.40 points.

A total of 23 of the 35 large companies gained in the day.

Airport operator AENA advanced 2.42 percent, being the top gainer of the day, followed by Spain's energy company Iberdrola and infrastructure company Acciona that rose 2.04 percent and 1.97 percent respectively.

Stainless steel manufacturer Acerinox went down 1.65 percent, being the top loser of the blue chips. Steel manufacturing corporation ArcelorMittal lost 1.21 percent and Spain's fourth largest bank Banco Sabadell was down 1.04 percent. Enditem
