Indonesia takes measures to foster young tennis players

JAKARTA, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- National tennis association of Indonesia has taken steps to rise the number of country's young tennis players and boost their skill to vie in international events, top official of the association disclosed here on Tuesday.

Chairman of the national tennis association Rido Ananda said that the association would intensify tournaments in the level of national or international.

"To create more young players it must through many tournaments or championships," he said.

Besides, the chairman said that provincial administration must hold many tournaments to find young talented athletes.

In his management team, the chairman also included many tennis players who had great achievements in the past.

For the 18th Asian Games, Ananda said that medals are not the target of the association, beside it is still difficult for the young players to secure them.

"We are realistic, bronze is sufficient," the chairman said. Enditem
