LUSAKA, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- More than 20,000 pigs have either died or have been slaughtered in northern Zambia as a result of the African swine fever outbreak.

Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Michael Katambo said the outbreak of the fever was a blow to the pig farmers as it had claimed a huge number of animals. (Times of Zambia)

-- The Zambian government intends to lure investors from the Far East dealing in Mukula timber logs to invest in value addition factories that will allow citizens to benefit from the sector.

Minister of Lands Jean Kapata said adding value to the commodity locally will help curb the illegal trading and indiscriminate cutting of timber. (Zambia Daily Mail)
