CAPE TOWN, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South Africa's major news outlets on Tuesday:

-- While H&M deals with a furore which has erupted following what has been labelled a racist advert, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation on Monday said it was not the first time that H&M has come under scrutiny regarding racial insensitivity.

"In 2015, the company came under criticism from a social media user for not featuring black models following the opening of their stores in South Africa. The company's response via Twitter implied that white models were featured to create a 'positive image'," the foundation's Executive Director Neeshan Balton said in a statement. (News24)

-- The City of Cape Town on Monday launched its water map and called on residents to paint Cape Town green with their water-saving efforts in order to get through drought in the province. (Independent Online)

-- South Africa's Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) is expected to execute a preservation order against consulting firm McKinsey and Gupta-linked Trillian on Tuesday to freeze assets worth an estimated 1.6 billion rand (about 128 million U.S. dollars).

The unit obtained the order at the High Court in Pretoria last month. The case is believed to be linked to a criminal complaint lodged by the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU).(Eyewitness News) Enditem
