Xinhua,January 16, 2018 Adjust font size:

YANGON, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar and Laos have reached three memorandums of understanding on bilateral cooperation in three sectors, Myanmar News Agency reported Tuesday.

The cooperation in three sectors are electric power, science and technology, and anti-corruption.

The signing on late Monday was witnessed by Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and visiting Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.

Sisoulith, who arrived Nay Pyi Taw earlier on Monday on his official visit to Myanmar, had discussions with Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw on matters related to enhancing bilateral friendship and cooperation, regional and international peace and security, cooperation in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), economic cooperation and development of the social sector.

Sisoulith also met with Aung San Suu Kyi separately and discussed on promoting bilateral relations and cooperation, boosting trade and investment, tourism and transportation, education and electric power and energy sectors as well as anti-human trafficking and anti-drug abuse in the border regions.

Sisoulith is another Lao high-level leader visiting Myanmar over one year after Lao President Bounnhang Vorachitch last came to the country in August 2016. Enditem
