Nantes defender Carlos cleared to play next Ligue 1 match

Xinhua,January 16, 2018 Adjust font size:

PARIS, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Ligue 1 club Nantes defender Diego Carlos, victim of an aimed kick from match referee Tony Chapron, saw his second yellow card withdrawn by the Disciplinary Committee of the French professional football league (LFP) on Monday, meaning that he was allowed to feature in Wednesday's league match against Toulouse.

The decision was made after French Football Federation (FFF) suspended Chapron's referee duty for the 21st round action between Angers and Troyes.

In stoppage time of last Sunday's clash with league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, Carlos inadvertently collided with Chapron in catching up with the play, but the furious referee falling on the pitch responded with a retaliatory kick at Carlos, before dismissing the player following a second yellow card.

After watching the video replay, Chapron found that his fall had been caused unintentionally, and submitted a supplementary report to the LFP Disciplinary Committee, which later made a decision to withdraw Carlos's second yellow card of the match.

According to French media, Chapron also expressed his apology to the Nantes defender.

The Disciplinary Committee will discuss its decision on Chapron at Thursday's next meeting, said LFP. Enditem
