Dollar stays in upper 110 yen zone amid ECB tapering concerns

TOKYO, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar stayed in the upper 110 yen zone Monday in Tokyo as selling was prompted by the euro's strength on expectations of monetary easing tapering by the European Central Bank (ECB).

At 5:00 p.m., the dollar was quoted at 110.81-82 yen compared with 110.97-111.07 yen in New York and 111.36-38 yen in Tokyo at 5:00 p.m. Friday. It moved between 110.58 yen and 111.18 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.2211-2212 dollars and 135.31-35 yen against 1.2195-2205 dollars and 135.36-46 yen in New York and 1.2062-2063 dollars and 134.33-37 yen in Tokyo late Friday afternoon. Enditem
