Two deaths in collision between car, train in France

Xinhua,January 15, 2018 Adjust font size:

PARIS, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Two people died on Sunday afternoon in a collision between a car and a passenger train in the French department of Yonne, the French daily Le Figaro reported on Sunday night.

The car of the two victims, a man and a woman who were all about 20 years old, entered the crossing while the traffic light was flashing, signaling the imminent arrival of a train, the report said.

"The car got stuck between the two gates...and the young man tried to free the car which was stalled as the train's locomotive reached at full speed," a French prosecutor was quoted as saying.

The identities of the victims are to be verified. No passenger of the train was hurt. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, according to Le Figaro. Enditem
