LUSAKA, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.

--Seven foreign nationals are among 55 people arrested on Friday following riots in some parts of Lusaka, the Zambian capital.

The seven were discovered after a screening exercise conducted by immigration authorities, according to Immigration Department Spokesperson Namati Nshinka. (Daily Nation)

--The Zambian government has brought forward the date for the reopening of government schools to January 23 whose opening was delayed after a cholera outbreak.

Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya said the reopening of schools, whose reopening was planned for January 30, has been brought forward following a fall in the number of new cholera cases. (Zambia Daily Mail)

--A Zambian police officer has been shot by armed criminals on a border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga said the police officer was shot while on duty at Kasumbalesa border post after being tipped about the presence of armed criminals around the border area. (Times of Zambia)

--The U.S. government has warned its citizens over Zambia's cholera outbreak, urging them to follow hygienic practices.
