Kenya's bourse closes week lower

NAIROBI, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) ended the week lower on Friday as equity turnover and the key indicator declined.

The turnover stood at 3.7 million U.S. dollars on a volume of 12.2 million shares, having declined from 22 million shares worth 6 million dollars on Thursday.

The NSE 20 Share Index, on the other hand, settled at 3,708.75 points on Friday down from 3,719.77 points in the previous session.

The NSE All Share Index (NASA), however, rose to 176.07 in the Friday session, from a low of 174.20 in the Thursday trading.

The most traded counters were Safaricom, Kenya Power, Kenya Commercial Bank, NIC Bank and Mumias Sugar after moving about 2.8 million, 2.1 million, 1.5 million, 1.2 million and 637,700 shares respectively.

Top gainers were National Bank of Kenya (9.4 percent), Serena (9 percent) and I&M Bank (8.7 percent) while the losers were Kenya Orchard (7.2 percent), Deacons (3 percent) and Sasini (6 percent) Enditem
