BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.11 percent, at 3,428.94 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.02 percent lower at 11,461.99 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.03 percent to close at 1,785.71 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed marginally higher Friday. Benchmark indices ended at fresh record, backed by ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries and HDFC.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 34,592.39, 88.90 points or 0.26 percent up compared to its previous close at 34,503.49.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Friday moved up 7.39 points, or 0.41 percent to close at 1,810.19 points.

Some 10.68 billion shares worth 81.79 billion baht (about 2.57 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

SINGAPORE -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went up 0.22 percent or 7.88 points to close at 3520.56.

A total of 2.44 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.23 billion Singapore dollars (about 927.2 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 285 to 176.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 292.15 points, or 0.94 percent, to 31,412.54 points on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 31,198.36 and 31,412.54. Turnover totaled 139.00 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 17.77 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,822.67 up 5.79 points or 0.32 percent, and the Emas was at 13,222.60 up 66.90 points or 0.51 percent.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Friday as the yen's strength against the U.S. dollar weighed on exporter issues and prompted investors to secure profits, although losses were trimmed by a rise in large-cap issues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 56.61 points, or 0.24 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 23,653.82.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 1,050.11 points on Friday, up 1.94 points, or 0.19 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 1,049.86 points, up 2.66 points or 0.25 percent.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 120.76 points on Friday, down 2.09 points or 1.7 percent against the previous trading session.

Over 125.355 million shares worth some 1.840 trillion Vietnamese dong (some 82.1 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Friday, an increase of 48.3 percent in volume and 59.4 percent in value against the previous trading session.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.02 percent higher on Friday.
