Tokyo stocks advance in morning tracking Nasdaq's rise

TOKYO, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning with tech shares attracting buying following the Nasdaq's rally overnight, with the market also buoyed by solid U.S. jobs data released late last week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 129.17 points, or 0.54 percent, from Friday to 23,843.70.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 6.43 points, or 0.34 percent, at 1,886.77.

Electric appliance, real estate and securities-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break.
