Jordan to allow entry of humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees near border

Xinhua,January 08, 2018 Adjust font size:

AMMAN, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Jordan said Sunday it would allow the entry of humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees living near Syria's border with Jordan.

Mohammad Kayed, spokesperson of the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a press statement that Jordan would allow the entry of the aid for one time to the Syrian refugees.

The humanitarian assistance will be provided to the refugees by cranes, he said.

Jordan accepted an earlier request submitted by the United Nations to provide aid to the Syrian refugees in the Rukban camp from within the Syrian territories.

Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi said recently that to take care of the Syrian refugees in the no man's land is the responsibility of the international community and it is not the sole responsibility of Jordan.

He added that the refugees are living inside the Syrian territories and the UN can provide them with aid from inside Syria. Enditem
