Charlotte Hornets win over Los Angeles Lakers 108-94

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Los Angeles Lakers suffered their 9th straight loss Friday night when they were defeated by the Charlotte Hornets at the Staples center 108-94.

The Lakers' point guard Lonzo Ball returned from a shoulder injury after a six-week absence, forward Brandon Ingram got 22 points and career-high 14 rebounds, but the poor plays of other players on both sides of the court put the game into garbage time with 10 minutes remaining.

The Hornets enjoyed a comfortable night with large leads of double digits. Six of them scored two-figure, including point guard Kemba Walker.

The Lakers now have lost nine games in a row and 12 of their last 13 overall.

According to ESPN, the Lakers also tied for the longest home losing streak of nine games in franchise history. The only other time the Lakers lost nine in a row at home was in last season.

The Lakers, who stand at the bottom of the Western Conference, will continue their five-game homestand on Sunday when the Atlanta Hawks, the last placers of the Eastern Conference, come to town. Enditem
