China pilots public info disclosure

BEIJING, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- China has initiated a program to pilot the disclosure of public information resources in five provincial regions including Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guizhou.

The program was unveiled in a plan by the Office of the Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Friday.

Aiming to make full use of the data resources for the public interests, the program will focus on setting up a unified disclosure platform, clarifying the scope for disclosure, improving the quality of data, promoting use of data, establishing institutional norms and improving security.

During the trial program, data to be disclosed for public use will mainly involve sectors such as credit, healthcare, social insurance, employment, public security, housing, transportation, education and culture, sci-tech innovation, and ecological environment.

Any public information resources, which are not related to state or commercial secrets, privacy or violations of law, should be gradually incorporated, said the plan.

The government supports using the data to start businesses, engage in innovation and develop the big data industry. Enditem
