Iran to play Turkey in soccer friendly

TEHRAN, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Iran's national soccer team will face their opponents from Turkey in May as part of preparation for the 2018 World Cup, Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday.

Iran and Turkey football teams have already played against each other six times. The Turkish side has won four of the matches and two of them have ended in a draw.

Iran has been drawn in Group B of the 2018 World Cup along with Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

Carlos Queiroz's men will start the campaign with a match against Morocco on June 15.

Iran will also play Algeria in a friendly match ahead of the World Cup. Enditem
