WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Playing without star James Harden, the Houston Rockets were still on fire as they eased past the Orlando Magic 116-98 on Wednesday.
Gerald Green, who joined Houston days ago, scored a season-high 27 points, made his first five 3-point shots and finished 7 for 10 from behind the arc.
Centre Clint Capela also had 21 points while Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson both added 17 points for the Rockets.
"This was a good day for us, and we will try to hold the fort down until we get James back," Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said of his guard Harden, who strained left hamstring during their last game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Without Harden, Chris Paul stood out to make sure that the team went well, claiming eight points but contributing 13 assists and seven rebounds.
"Chris Paul did a great job of getting me going early," Green said. "My rhythm felt really good and I was able to knock down shots."
Houston will host the Golden State Warriors in their second round clash this season on Thursday. In their opening game of the season, Houston defeated the defending champions. Enditem
