Chicago agricultural commodities firm in morning trading

Xinhua,January 05, 2018 Adjust font size:

CHICAGO, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities were trading firm on Wednesday morning, with wheat continuing to rise due to severe cold hitting North America.

As of 1540 GMT, March corn was unchanged at 3.5325 U.S. dollars per bushel, March wheat was up 1.75 cents at 4.3525 dollars while March soybeans up 1.25 cents at 9.66 dollars per bushel.

Wheat posted more gains at a relatively lower pace, reaching the highest level in one month over concerns about freezing temperatures in the U.S. Midwest and southern plains.

Traders are worried now that wheat plants without a protective layer of snow could be damaged by the winterkill.

As deep freeze continued in the Midwest, southern plains may get warmer in the coming days, according to weather forecasts. Enditem
