BAQUBA -- A local leader of Islamic State (IS) group and two of the group's militant were killed Friday in an airstrike in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, a provincial security source said.

Acting on intelligence reports, the Iraqi aircraft bombarded an IS hideout in Wadi Thlab area, some 90 km northeast of the provincial capital Baquab, destroying the hideout and killing the three militants, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Airstrike)

BOGOTA -- At least 31 people have been injured in an explosion at a nightclub in northern Colombia after a grenade was allegedly thrown into the crowd, local authorities said on Friday.

The explosion rocked the Bora Bora nightclub early Friday in the municipality of Caucasia in the department of Antioquia when dozens of people were at the club, Caucasia Mayor Oscar Anibal Suarez said in a statement to local media. (Colombia-Explosion)

TRIPOLI -- Libya's eastern-based army killed three militants during operations in the eastern city of Benghazi, an army source said Friday.

NEW YORK -- A devastating fire that killed 12 people and injured multiple others in a New York building was started by a small child playing with a stove burner, local authorities said on Friday.

New York City Fire Department Commissioner Daniel Nigro said the mother of the three-year-old boy was not aware of the fire until the child, who had been left unattended in the kitchen, started screaming as it filled with smoke and fire. (U.S.-Fire) Enditem
