Tokyo stocks advance in morning on Wall Street's lead but gains capped

TOKYO, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Friday morning on the back of U.S. shares' solid performance overnight, but gains were capped by profit taking on the final trading day of the year.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 57.66 points, or 0.25 percent, from Thursday to 22.841.64.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 4.82 points, or 0.26 percent, at 1,823.85.

Glass and ceramics product, bank and metal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
