Syrian militia commander shown in video visiting Lebanese border with Israel

Xinhua,December 29, 2017 Adjust font size:

BEIRUT, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The operations commander of pro-Syrian regime Shiite militia has been shown allegedly visiting south Lebanon in a recent post to the group's social media account.

The commander, known as Hajj Hamza or Abu Abbas, leads the Liwa al-Imam al-Baqer, or Brigade of Imam al-Baqer, militia, on the ground in Syria.

The Facebook post issued by the group on Dec. 26 included a photograph and the caption "Hajj Hamza Abu Abbas, commander of operations of the Brigade of Imam al-Baqer, from southern Lebanon."

The caption also said "let Israel know that we are on its borders and the day will come when we break its borders."

The exact date of the visit and the precise location in which Abu Abbas was photographed are not verified.

The visit came after a video surfaced in the beginning of December showing Qais al-Khazali, the head of the Iran-backed Iraqi militia Asaib Ahl al-Haq visiting south Lebanon's border with Israel. Enditem
