Train-car collision kills one in NW France

PARIS, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- A regional train TER collided on Tuesday with a vehicle in Morbihan, northwest France, leaving one person dead, local authorties said.

At 10:06 local time (0906 GMT), a train hit a car at a railroad level between Lorient and Quimperle communes, according to Morbihan prefecture.

The car driver lost his life in the collision. No injuries have been reported among the train passengers who have been evacuated by the railway company SNCF, it added.

Police had set a perimeter of security and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

The collision comes after a train smashed into a school bus in southern France on Dec. 14, killing six teenagers. Enditem
