NANNING, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- A former official in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on corruption charges.

The Intermediate People's Court in Laibin City handed down the verdict Tuesday to Li Tingrong, former vice chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference of Baise City, after convicting him of accepting bribes totalling 5.5 million yuan (about 840,200 U.S. dollars).

The court found that from 1995 to 2017, Gong had accepted bribes and in return helped others obtain benefits while he worked in different posts in the city.

Li was also fined 500,000 yuan and had his illegal gains confiscated. Enditem
