SEOUL, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating posted the first rebound in four weeks, a weekly survey showed Tuesday.
According to the Realmeter poll, support for Moon rose 1.3 percentage points over the week to 69.9 percent last week, ending the downward trend for the past three weeks in a row.
It was based on a survey of 2,509 voters conducted from Monday to Friday last week. It had 2 percentage points in margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level.
Moon's surprise visit to the scene suffering from a building fire helped bolster support scores for the president.
The eight-storey building in Jecheon city, about 170 km southeast of capital Seoul, was engulfed by fire last week, killing 29 people trapped inside the building accommodating public sauna, fitness center and restaurant.
Moon visited the scene, consoling the bereaved families and the victims.
Support for Moon's ruling Democratic Party inched up 0.1 percentage point to 52 percent last week.
It was followed by the main opposition Liberty Korea Party with 17.8 percent last week, down 0.9 percentage points from the previous week.
The minor conservative Righteous Party came next with 5.7 percent, and the minor progressive Justice Party earned 1.3 percent of support. The centrist People's Party gained 4.9 percent. Enditem
