LUSAKA, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Friday.

-- The World Bank has approved an International Development Association (IDA) guarantee of up to 2.8 million U.S. dollars to support Zambia in increasing its solar photovoltaic electricity generation capacity and diversify the country's primary energy sources. (Times of Zambia)

-- Four top quality contractors have been selected to bid for the 120 million U.S. dollars rehabilitation of the spillway at Kariba Dam, which is jointly owned by Zambia and Zimbabwe. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Former Zambian Vice-President Nevers Mumba said the government's decision to under-declare the country's debt earlier this year prompted the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to cancel its negotiations for a loan facility.
