CAPE TOWN, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South Africa's major news outlets on Friday:

-- The South African Communist Party (SACP) is in charge of a municipality for the first time, after forming a coalition government with the African National Congress (ANC) and three smaller parties in Metsimaholo in the Free State.

The party secured the position of mayor on Thursday, in the second council seating following the by-elections last month. (News24)

-- Changing the ownership structure of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) at this point in time could raise financial and economic risk and uncertainty for the country in a policy sense, the central bank said in a statement on Thursday. (Fin24)

-- AgriSA, an association of South African farmers, said on Thursday that amending the Constitution to allow land to be expropriated without compensation would amount to no less than economic suicide.
