LONDON, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- London's Hyde Park Corner tube station is shut down by police after a "suspicious vehicle" is found abandoned near Buckingham Palace gardens, local media reported Thursday.

The roads surrounding the tube station have also been closed off as bomb squad officers are inspecting the car.

The central London tube station is especially busy during Christmas time as it is close to Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland, one of the biggest entertainment parks in London.

Transport for London has warned people to avoid the area for the time being.

The vehicle was spotted by officers on a routine patrol shortly before 9 p.m. GMT, according to a police spokesman. Enditem
